Salisbury star wins national award

The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers has announced that Salisbury’s Laura Newnham is the Young Facilities Manager of the Year 2021.

The organisation is one of the historic Livery Companies of the City of London and its origins date back to the 14th century. It operates two Young Manager’s Award schemes which provide career development support to deserving young managers, including one each year from the facilities management and built environment sector. It’s one of the most prestigious awards in our industry.

The number and quality of entrants for this year’s award was described by the Pattenmakers interview panel as “the best ever”, with young FM professionals representing both client and supply sides of the industry. For the first time, two of Salisbury’s young managers made the final shortlist with Lucieanne Byrne joining Laura.

As the winner of this prestigious award, Laura will receive expert support to create a varied and bespoke personal development programme. It will include things like off-site courses and work placements designed to broaden her perspective. The training programme will be developed in full consultation with Director of Operations, Adam Burden.

As the icing on the cake, each year the award is presented to the winner by the Lord Mayor of London at the Pattenmakers’ Annual Banquet, traditionally held at Mansion House. The winners also receive the Freedom of the Livery with the opportunity to apply for the Freedom of the City of London at a later stage.

Group Managing Director, Andrew Lunt commented:

“I am delighted that the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers has chosen Laura as winner of this important award. Laura’s accolade not only recognises her very promising career in the industry to date, but also clearly shows her talent and potential for the future.

With a number of other Salisbury Group young managers put forward for the award, this demonstrates how, as a company, we want to invest in our young talent and help them to progress their careers with us. The whole company wants to congratulate Laura on this fantastic news.”
